DESCRIPTION:
 This everyday hour is a dance and sound performance 
 calling to familial and terrestrial histories 
 of place, specifically midwestern grassland. The 
 choreography is built upon and references research 
 into deep and resilient prairie root systems of 
 the tallgrass prairie, tectonics that have formed 
 place, and extraordinary and quotidian experience 
 of absence, grief. The work is performed as a 
 duet between a sound artist and a movement artist 
 who met on the Tallgrass National Prairie Preserve 
 in Kansas; the work was birthed from a moment 
 of both artists standing on Midwest soil, orienting 
 westward. \n

 The performance moves from subtle action, quiet 
 sound- a slow unfolding of moments like dawn becoming 
 morning light. Once passed through, the work rushes 
 forward with focus and momentum, bright percussive 
 sound and highly physical endeavors abound. Throughout 
 the performance, both performers catch and call 
 to each other in visceral and sonic ways. Their 
 actions are informed by land time, sky and memory 
 of place, cycling through what feels like a full 
 day. The work calls to a universal expansiveness 
 that we are all experiencing, whether we are awake 
 to it or not.\n
