The Namesake of the Richard A. Harrison Symposium for the Humanities and Social Sciences

The exhibit located in the case on the first floor of the library provides a look at Richard Harrison, dean of the faculty and professor of history at Lawrence University from 1992-1997. Harrison was one of the founders of the Student Humanities and Social Sciences Symposium that first began in 1996, After Harrison's death in 1997, the symposium was renamed the Richard A. Harrison Symposium for the Humanities and Social Sciences in 1998. The symposium showcases student research and writing and will be held this year on Saturday, May 17.
